PAMARES at Khon Kaen Airport, Thailand

Airports are some of the toughest places when it comes to air quality. Constant airplane activity, service vehicles, and the daily movement of thousands of passengers all release fine particles and ultra-fine dust into the air. This not only affects comfort but also raises health concerns for both travelers and staff.

Khon Kaen Airport, a key hub in northeastern Thailand, has been experiencing growing passenger numbers and increased aircraft activity. With more flights and vehicles operating around the terminal, fine dust and particulate matter became a concern for airport management. These particles not only reduce comfort inside and around the terminal but also pose health risks for both passengers and staff.

To address these rising air quality concerns and to align with Thailand’s broader efforts to improve public health and sustainability, the airport decided to introduce StaticAir’s PAMARES system.

Solution

PSD Road Solutions, Staticair’s distributor in Thailand, installed the PAMARES system at Khon Kaen Airport. PAMARES works continuously to capture harmful particles from the air. It needs little upkeep and does not interfere with the daily operations of a busy airport. This makes it well-suited for places where clean air is essential but interruptions are not an option.

Why Air Purification System is Important on Airports in Thailand

Thailand’s newly introduced Clean Air Bill has set stricter national standards to address rising concerns around PM2.5 and other harmful pollutants. Airports, being high-traffic hubs with aircraft exhaust, ground vehicles, and continuous passenger movement, are now under increased scrutiny. The Bill mandates active monitoring, public disclosure of air quality data, and penalties for non-compliance, while empowering authorities to enforce reductions in dust and emissions. In this context, installing advanced air purification systems at airports is not only a compliance measure but also a public health safeguard. Clean air is critical for travelers and staff who spend long hours in these enclosed, busy spaces. Furthermore, with Thailand’s tourism industry heavily reliant on its international reputation, ensuring cleaner and healthier environments at airports directly supports national goals of sustainability, safety, and maintaining its image as a global travel destination.

Results:

The installation of PAMARES at Khon Kaen Airport has brought noticeable improvements:

  • Cleaner air in high-footfall areas  where thousands of passengers and staff move daily, the system reduces harmful fine dust and particles.

  • Health and comfort for travelers and staff  fewer pollutants create a safer, more pleasant environment for everyone inside the terminal.

  • Reliability without disruption — PAMARES runs quietly in the background and requires minimal maintenance, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

  • Future-ready infrastructure — by adopting advanced clean air technology, the airport sets an example for healthier and more sustainable transport hubs.
